This therapy works in a tailored and structured way to trace, reach and treat affected muscles, tendons, and ligaments with the client remaining in complete control at all times.

Any discomforts, lack of mobility or pain in one part of the body are firstly correlated with associated restrictions that may be known or lying latent in other corresponding parts of the body.

As your therapist, I have expertise in anatomy, physiology and pathology which enables me to provide a complete, client-focused health solution.

I will work carefully with your guidance to alleviate restrictions and restore balance across the whole body which generates a profound sense of release and well-being. All treatments include a re-assessment phase to ensure effectiveness of the therapy.

Advanced Remedial Massage works to manipulate the core composition of the muscles and rid the body of harmful toxins. The massage technique applied accelerates the flow of nutrients, endorphins (the body's natural painkillers) and oxygen to the body which stimulates the body's natural ability to heal and repair.

The Advanced Remedial Massage Therapy session

Prior to any therapy, an in-depth consultation is taken to assess your condition, examine the alignment of the back and joints and understand your medical history. This enables me to tailor an appropriate massage regime and provide you with relevant information. Before starting a treatment session, I will also explain to you how the therapy will be applied and what you can expect.

Notes about the treatment session;

  • Advance Remedial Massage sessions are booked into an individual, private treatment room.
  • Clients lie on an adjustable treatment couch in their undergarments with towels draped over the body. I will apply massage using oil to various areas, with only the area under treatment being exposed.
  • At the end of the massage session, I will discuss your treatment with you and offer any advice.

About your Massage Therapist

I hold advanced level qualifications and practitioner status with the Scottish Massage Therapists Organisation (SMTO) and I am professionally accredited across several complementary therapy disciplines. Prior to working in this field, I worked for over 20 years as a Registered General Nurse (RGN) within several areas of the NHS.

Origins of Advanced Remedial Massage

Advanced Remedial Massage stems and dates back to the early 1900s when work was first carried out specifically to heal and improve the physical body and movement. During this era massage therapists and physiotherapists operated as one group.

However, over time, the distinction between the two disciplines has became apparent with physiotherapists focusing more on machinery and exercises to assist healing and movement and Advanced Remedial Massage Therapists developing new and continued hands-on treatments and techniques to stimulate healing, movement and repair.
